It's not exactly a new rule since I assumed that it would be common sense and the question never came up, but in hindsight, I guess it was unfair of me to assume that these things are considered the same way I see it.  Now that the question has been asked for the first time, I should probably make it clear that I personally feel this way about the following:

:bulletorange:For personal commissions, you may NOT post your finished commissioned artwork on any art community websites (e.g. deviantART, pixiv).  I personally feel that these sites should be used to post your own work and NOT work you commissioned others to make for you.  You may notice that I do not post all finished commissions on my dA, and I barely use pixiv.  This does NOT mean that you could post these finished commissions to your account, even if you give me credit and even link back to me!  In no way am I suggesting that you are forbidden to post your commissioned picture anywhere on the world wide web; if you have a personal website where you would like to display the finished commission, you are free to upload it there.  This restriction only applies to art communities where normally, you post artwork that you create, whether individually or collaboratively, and not work you pay someone else to make for you.

This does not apply to commissions where completed graphics are intended to be used in a bigger project (e.g. game graphics, avatars/graphics that will be used as part of a layout of a website/community, etc).

Maybe there are artists out there who are completely okay with this, but please understand that it is not okay for me.  If any past commissioners unknowingly posted artwork I made for them on their accounts already, whether on dA, pixiv, Gaia's Art Arena, etc, I am very sorry but please take them down.

Even if I commission someone, I like my art on my site. Not someone else's. I don't understand why people would do that.

Don't mess with me, I've got an evil army of Tellitubbies and I'm not afraid to use 'em.

Huh... how strange =( do people realize they can just add your commission to a Collection on dA? I don't see why they would want to upload it themselves. As you said, this is an art site for displaying your own creations...

Either way, it's kind of you to clarify. Hope you're doing well.

Well, I hadn't uploaded the commission when the question was asked. I was later asked to upload it myself, so I think they know about the Collection part. This won't work for pixiv though, which was asked when I gave a no to dA. I don't hang around pixiv much so maybe they have Collections now too, but from what I remember, there's just the general Bookmark/Favorite function.

I'm doing okay. :3  Keeping busy. Hope you're doing well too.
